lately I've been feeling very blah. I know, I hate it when people say that because blah is not a real adjective and what do you do with a statement like that anyway? but it's the best word I can find to describe how I've been feeling lately. that, or "weird". which isn't much better.
I'm in lots of communication classes this semester, I don't know how it ended up like this but 3 out of my 4 classes all deal with communication. So while sometimes it gets redundant (we only retain 50% of what we hear a day later, and 25% by the next blah blah), it's all pretty interesting to me. I think one thing that has stood out a lot is the importance of words. I've always liked writing and reading (leisurely... I read what I want) a lot, but especially writing. I like talking to people, I like words (I have dictionary.com as one of the bookmarks on my toolbar, even after people make fun of me for it over and over again... don'tjudgeme). I don't know, they're just something so important that people don't ever really stop to think about. and something that occurs to me after all the lectures and readings about communication, is that words stay with people and you can't take them back. to this day I think some of my most vivid memories, both good and bad, are things that were said to me. and this is the thing, the thing is that anything these people said to me could've been followed up with a "hey, okok I take it back" or a "forget I ever said that", but what was said previous to that still stays with me. once it's out there, it's stuck there, and there's no takebacks. but in the same way that words stay with me, I guess sometimes the people who said them stay with me too.
there have been too many birthdays to count lately, but all important people nonetheless!
