milestones 12.09.05 - 1:30 a.m. "Most of us could summarize our lives around 5 or 6 defining moments-- moments that if we had chosen differently would have radically altered the trajectory of our lives." Erwin McManus In class the other day, we had to write down 7 milestones of our lives. These were the best ones I could think of in a one-minute brainstorming period: 1) Chief (family dog) died I don't know why I put Chief dying on there but for some reason it was one of the first things I thought of... so lots of these "milestones" were not life-altering but still big deals to me. There's still times when I forget that I am not in control of everything in my life. Looking at my list of milestones reminds me of how much some things are just out of my hands-- couldn't be avoided, couldn't be resisted. Sometimes I wonder how different my life could have turned out if I made different decisions, but one of the most comforting things is knowing that right now, no matter what has happened so far, I am right where I need to be. I have another final tomorrow...
